The Inherent Benefits of a Collaborative Divorce
Collaborative divorce was first created by Minnesota family attorney Stu Webb in 1990, when he realized that traditional divorce proceedings were often too contentious and too drawn-out for a modern divorce. He realized that many people were more interested in getting a quick, fair, and less painful divorce than they were with establishing fault or trying to do financial damage to their ex-spouse. His new style of divorce was centered on the idea that divorces would be healthier and less dramatic if the parties met as equals and hashed things out personally, rather than relying on dramatic arguments in court.
