Why a Patchwork of Marriage Laws Won't Work
Imagine if Ohioans stopped at red lights, Indianans at yellow lights, Kentuckians at green, blue or lavender lights. California Supreme Court held that each citizen's constitutional right to marry was really no right at all, unless it meant the freedom to "marry the person of one's choice." As he drove across the bridge he would no longer be married. These so-called marriage lite relationships are one of the most corrosive factors to marriage.
